Merely hours after Motorola began selling its simplistic U9 through its own webstore, along comes Fido to give interested Canadians another option for procuring it. Starting right now, those enamored by that ghostly external display can grab one for just $75 on a 3-year contract, $175 with a 2-year agreement or a grossly overpriced $350 with no strings attached. Any takers… anyone?

Back in February, we all had high hopes that the Linux-based Samsung i800 would be a real winner when it launched on Orange this fall. Unfortunately, the i900 is apt to be out and about before the i800 can even have a proper funeral. According to Edelman, Orange’s PR firm, the “i800 has been withdrawn in order to… prepare a more competitive Linux mobile.” In all honesty, we don’t suspect that many folks will miss it, but those holding out on picking up a new cellie can safely move on to courting other handsets.

So, we figure one of two things has happened here: either the Samsung Access has been a solid seller for AT&T, leading the carrier to request a near-clone from competitor LG — or LG saw the Access and felt compelled to provide a clone of its own volition. Either way, the CB630 Invision is getting to the AT&T Mobile TV fight a little late, because we’re actually hearing that the Access is already scheduled for an official sunset (not Sunset) on August 24, along with the Sony Ericsson Z750, Samsung SLM, and the Mobile TV-less version of the LG Vu, the CU915. We’re hearing that it’ll launch on August 13 for $99.99 on contract with a $50 rebate, so getcha popcorn ready, people.
