So the phone everyone thought was going to be the 7310 classic (Nokia’s been in the habit of appending “classic” to midrange phones lately, don’t'cha know) turns out to be the 7310 Supernova, a rather fantastical name for a rather ordinary candybar. The phone’s now available in parts of Asia — and probably won’t make it outside of the Asian market, either, on account of a triband GSM radio that mopes along at EDGE speeds. Series 40 comes through loud and clear on a 2 inch QVGA display, while an FM radio, 2 megapixel camera, and microSD slot should be enough to keep users entertained for a while. Look for the 11.95mm-thick chunk of mirror finish to retail for something in the range of $230 in pink or blue.

If you just can’t get enough news about Sony Ericsson’s forthcoming Symbian UIQ touchscreen phone — currently known as Paris — perhaps this promo video of the thing in action can help. Sure, these appears to be pre-renders, but it does whet the appetite for things to come with the device, and who can complain about that pop-up weather app and confirmation that this will have a flash for its camera? Also, the dude in the clip sports a totally stylish cardigan. Watch the whole thing after the break and see for yourself.

We now have official word from Samsung regarding the browser on its new Samsung L870 slider. You may recall that the Samsung-issued press release listed “Safari browser (full browsing)” as a feature. Now the clarification:
“Actually, L870 is equipped with S60 OSS browser, also known as S60 safari browser because both are using same webcore platform. Sorry again for the unclear specification, and bothering you with this.”
Of course, the S60 browser has never been known, even informally, as the “S60 safari browser,” but we’ll let Samsung bang heads together internally over that one.
