[samsung phones] - Like the Prada, but not: Samsung’s SGH-P520?

31 07 2007

, Samsung, GSM, GPRS, EDGE

We can’t confirm the authenticity of this thing just yet, but we can confirm that this particular model number passed through the FCC not long ago — so it’s plausible that this is the real deal. The SGH-P520 appears to be Samsung’s nod to the ever-growing finger-friendly touchscreen segment, offering a Prada-esque experience (from that other Korean manufacturer, of course) with decent specs to match. Highlights are said to include a 3 megapixel camera, 50MB of onboard storage with microSD expansion, QVGA display (we woulda hoped for a little more, honestly), A2DP, EDGE data, and WiFi with UMA support in-box. There’s no official word on when or where this thing might drop — but with a triband GSM radio on board, it sure ain’t launching here.

[motorola phones] - The Motorola Z9

31 07 2007

, Motorola, ATT

The Boy Genius has done it again, this time by outing the new Motorola Z9 slider phone. Its styling looks very similar to the RAZR 2 — mainly due to the large primary screen — although since the model that the Boy Genius got his hands on has some very deep AT&T branding, we’d have to say the similarities end there. Beyond the design the Z9 features 3G, a 2 megapixel camera with flash (no word on whether it’s a “real” flash), Motorola’s Synergy OS, support for AT&T’s Live Video Share, and a microSD card slot. We’re sure we’ll be hearing a lot more about this phone over the coming days: for now, head over to The Boy Genius Report to check out a gallery of shots of the phone.

[benq-siemens phones] - BenQ P51 lands on the FCC’s doorstep

31 07 2007

, Features, BenQ-Siemens, Windows Mobile, GSM, GPRS

Some of us might of had a quick glance at the BenQ P51 this year at CeBIT and hoped it would of made its way stateside for release sooner than later. Unfortunately for us, it is turning out to be the latter of the two as the device was just given the FCC’s approval. This quad-band 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 Mhz GSM/GPRS device is packing Windows Mobile 5.0 PocketPC, adds WiFi (thankfully), integrated GPS, and a 1.3 megapixel camera all viewable on a 2.8 inch touch screen display. Standard SD slot, mini USB, and storage space for an extra SIM are also on this device. Now our only question for you BenQ, why no EDGE?
