We’d caught wind of rumors of a Nokia 6267 in the past; normally, a four-digit Nokia doesn’t really catch our attention — at least in unsubstantiated rumor form — but it turns out that this one’ll feature some North America-friendly 3G. FCC documents released today indicate that the phone, said to feature a QVGA screen and comprehensive media support, will sport WCDMA 850 in addition to GSM 850 and 1900 (though strangely, we weren’t able to track down any mention of WCDMA 1900). We also know from the filing that Bluetooth is in the cards, and in all likelihood, it’ll rock Series 40. Could this be AT&T’s successor to the never-released 6282?
Update: It appears the presence of WCDMA 850 and the lack of 1900 indicates that this sucker is destined for Australia. Why dost thou forsake us yet again, Nokia? (On the other hand, our heartfelt congrats go out to you, our Australian readership.) [Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

We’ve certainly seen our fair share of Hello Kitty products — heck, we’ve even gone through a few Hello Kitty cellphones — but what BenQ-Siemens’ Hello Kitty AL61 lacks in originality, it makes up in brand recognition (bear in mind the last Hello Kitty-themed handset we saw came from Taiwan’s OKWAP). The AL61 is a fairly pedestrian slider, offering a marginal 130 x 130 display with not a camera to be found, but of course the draw here is what you get on the side: themed wallpapers, ringtones, games, and so on, not to mention the soft pink / translucent white case that only a die-hard Hello Kitty fan could love. Look for the handset to land in markets worldwide as soon as this month. Or, as in our case, don’t look for it.

When Verizon passed on the iPhone, was it a bad business decision or was it a part of a much larger idea for The Network to bring a next-generation music device to market? Enter Motorola and what is being described as an “iPhone Killer” by employees of both companies. Code named the “M” and designed for the mediacentric user, it’s likely to impress (if they really want to kill the iPhone, anyway). Details are on the slim side, but reports suggest a 3 megapixel shooter with a large QVGA display and lots of internal storage. In addition to the M, word is that LG is preparing a CDMA version of the popular — but — expensive KE850 (aka Prada) for release sometime in the 3rd quarter (this one’s also a potential iPhone nemesis, if you ask us). Make sure you keep a lookout for more deets!
[Thanks, Roc a fella]
