[sony-ericsson phones] - Sony Ericsson adds trio of headsets

28 02 2007

, Sony Ericsson

With all the fanfare getting trumpeted by Sony Ericsson today, it seems there might not be much left in that bag of tricks for next week’s 3GSM. Heck, they’ve even spilled the beans on their latest batch of headsets, two Bluetooth units and a wired stereo model (they still make those?). The HBH-PV702 (pictured above) and HBH-PV710, the Bluetooth pieces, both clock in at 14 grams with a 61 x 18mm outline, though the PV710 offers an additional hundred hours of standby time for a total of 300; it’s also the more stylish of the two, hitting streets in brown and red. The old-skool HPM-75, meanwhile, keeps it real with a 3.5mm jack (if the included ‘buds aren’t quite up to snuff) and a selection of rubber inserts of various sizes. Expect all three to be available between the end of Q1 and mid Q2, but since we know some folks are chomping at the bit to get these goodies in their pockets, we’ve added shots of the PV710 and HPM-75 after the break to hold ‘em over.

[benq-siemens phones] - The “economy class” BenQ-Siemens A38

28 02 2007

, BenQ-Siemens, GSM

A 96 x 96 pixel display? 300 address book entries? With a new contract, we would expect to be paid cold, hard cash to pick up BenQ-Siemens’ new ultra-low-end candybar, the A38. The claimed standby time of 286 hours, if accurate, is pretty impressive, but there’s not much else to talk about here. The tri-band A38 drops in Europe come July, Asia in August, and Latin America in September. No mention of a North American release, but we’re just fine with that.

[samsung phones] - T-Mobile launches Samsung Stripe

28 02 2007

, Samsung, T-Mobile, GSM, GPRS

We sorta figured out this little mystery at CES, but T-Mobile’s gone ahead and made the lowly Samsung “Stripe” (or SGH-T329, if you prefer) available now for the reasonable sum of $49.99 on contract after rebate. Your hard-heardned 50 smackers buy you a relatively stylish flip with a VGA cam, monochrome external display, and service on the 850, 1800, and 1900MHz bands — not quite enough to satisfy our geeky obsessions, but we’re sure it’ll find plenty of loving homes.

[Thanks, Jhonny M.]
